MGOCSM History

In the early parts of the 20th century, students and senior leaders of the Church felt an urge to further their spiritual life and create a lively fellowship for all the Christian students in the various colleges and high schools with a view to deepening their spiritual life and to create in them a lively sense of fellowship. In 1907, the Syrian Student Conference was formed. On January 1, 1907, the Syrian Student Conference had its first conference at Balikamadom School, Tiruvalla, Kerala. For years after that, the Syrian Student Conference continued to offer the conference annual as a regular feature for years after that. In 1960, the Syrian Student Conference changed its name to Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Student Movement and adopted the motto “Worship-Study-Service.” Since then, the movement continued to grow to become the oldest Christian Student Organization in India and has expanded to many different nations around the world. MGOCSM maintains interdisciplinary contacts in the academic field for a long time by the formation of its various wings.

Our Unit : The MGOCSM unit of St.George Orthodox Valiyapally, Palarivattom is one of the active Spiritual Organisation . We have strength of about 30 odd students. The activities done by us are according to the MGOCSM motto i.e., worship, study & service. We hold meetings on all Sundays. We have praise & worship session continued by a bible class conducted by a student & we hold discussions & share our experiences relating to that topic.

We also have started a project with a motive of social service. Save A Life (SAL) is a service based project, where in we pool in donations every two months & provide financial assistance to Dialysis patients who are economically backward. We also provide financial assistance to other patients in case of any emergency. All the members of the wing have equal contribution in making our group active. We hope & look forward for more successful projects by grace of God & also improve the activities of MGOCSM to our capability & also prosper more active participation from future generations.

At A Glance

        Meetings on all Sundays after Holy Qurbana .We carry out Worship session, bible classes,Bible quiz and sword drill.

        Visiting Elders and sick On every 4th Sunday.

        Conducting Blood Donations Camps And provide blood donors support for our Church Members when needed.

        Save A Life (SAL), a project aiming to provide financial help for Dialysis patients who are economically backward.

        Y_CNCT : Annual Retreat programme for all students in our church in Month of October.

        REVERBERATION : A unique programme conducted by our unit.
